We were able to meet with Terumi Neufield and it was such an enriching experience. I learned so much from what Terumi had to say about the Flik program and saw her motivating spirit to make Kamehameha a more sustainable place.
It was not planned that we would not contact aloha Harvest to take some extra food to Hawai'is Homeless. Upon learning of the food waste system at Flik, it was not very conducive to do so because of the lack of extra food in general.
I learned a lot about Kamehameha itself and the many processes within the ;Akahi dining hall center. I enjoyed working with my group and learning how to be a team player to get things done. I also learned a lot about food waste in Hawai'i and how it is such a big problem. I did know that food waste is a pretty big problem but, the processes that make it so were as an area I needed more education.
I'd like to see it start earlier in the year so that students can have more time to put forth action but also there will be more room for expectation.
Yes I was doing science. The investigative process is always apart of the scientific method. Mr. Nishimura taught me that in 8th grade and I was mind blown.
